Tuesday Memo

Date:     January 7, 2020

School News:

  • Welcome back and Happy New Year! We look forward to a wonderful second semester as we are reminded of fresh starts and clean slates. We are thankful that His mercies are “…new every morning” (Lam. 3:21).

  • January Lunch Menu is now online.

  • 2nd quarter Report Cards for K5-12th grade will be issued tomorrow, January 8.  You may keep the report card for your records, but please sign and return the receipt attached to your student’s report card by this Friday.

  • This Thursday, January 9, is the CCS Spelling Bee for 4th-8th grades, and it will be held at 1:00pm in the Chapel.  We invite you to join us as we support the students participating in the Bee! Top spellers from each grade level will compete this Thursday and the winner will go to represent Central Christian at the county-wide Spelling Bee on February 4.

  • The seminar on Human Exploitation and Social Media scheduled for next Monday evening is postponed. Please stay tuned for updates.

  • School will be closed Monday, January 20, for King/Lee Holiday.

  • Homecoming/Spirit Week is January 21-24. The 2020 theme is “Starry Night”. Each day that week students may be out of uniform dressing according to a different theme. Please follow school guidelines (no shorts, etc).  Students not participating in Spirit Days are required to be in school uniform. Tuesday is “Star Class” Color Wars, Wednesday is “Let Your Light Shine” Mathlete (nerd) vs Athlete (jock), Thursday is “Sweet Dreams”- PJ’s and Pancake Breakfast Day, and Friday is “Blue/Gold and White Day” with an emphasis on WHITE. There will be a black light pep rally in the afternoon!

Elementary grade colors for Tuesday, January 21, are as follows:  1st - purple, 2nd - orange, 3rd - red, 4th - green, 5th - gold, and 6th - blue.

Middle School/High School colors for Tuesday, January 21, are as follows:  7th - green, 8th - blue, 9th - purple, 10th - pink, 11th - red, and 12th - black.

  • Our annual Pancake Breakfast is Thursday, January 23. Each student must bring in $3.00 (max $5 per family) by Tuesday, January 22. Because the Pancake Breakfast is a Homecoming activity, it cannot be put on your child’s lunch account. Please contact Mrs. Nelson at bnelson@ccssaints.com to volunteer to help. We need cooks, servers, griddles, and spatulas!  If you send in any griddles or spatulas, please put your name on all items so that they may be returned promptly. Thank you for all that you do!

  • The 2019 Homecoming Banquet with the theme, “It’s Cold Outside”, is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, at 6pm. It will be held at Ivey’s Restaurant in Robertsdale. Ticket information coming soon.
